Friday July 22, 2005 - Sunday July 24, 2005
The East Coast Xterra Challenge (ECXC) is the premier off-road Xterra event in the country. It is designed to bring together Xterra owners from all parts of North America. Although the name implies a hardcore off-road event, it is set up to challenge all skill levels of drivers and their rigs.
2005 marks the 5 year anniversary of the East Coast Xterra Challenge. ECXC continues to grow each year with attendance more than doubling in 2003 and 2004 from the first East Coast Xterra Challenge. While attendance has grown so has the number of sponsors as well as the number of great items given away at ECXC. The 5th Annual ECXC will be held at Rausch Creek Racing ORV Park located in Tremont, PA and Paragon Adventure Park in Hazleton, PA. It is a 3 day event beginning Friday July 22nd and running through Sunday July 24th. We will be wheeling at Paragon Adventure Park on Friday and Rausch Creek on Saturday and Sunday. Pennsylvania offers some of the best 4wheeling on the East Coast and these 2 parks are the epitome of great wheeling with their vast number of trails covering every type of terrain except sand. Paragon Adventure Park, in Hazleton, PA was the site of ECXC 2002. It is a very large off-road park with close to 100 trails. Rausch Creek ORV is a new park, which opened in 2003. ECXC 2003 & 2004 were held at Rausch Creek. It is smaller than Paragon, but offers a significant number of trails well suited for our vehicles. Trails at both parks include 2WD & 4WD access roads to extreme, hardcore, you will probably roll your truck if you attempt it. Rausch Creek has several trails that will accommodate all level of riders with bypasses for more difficult obstacles. Rausch Creek also offers trail side camping as well as group camping areas for those that don't mind primitive camping accommodations.
Fees for wheeling are $35/day at Paragon and $25/day for Rausch Creek. Rausch Creek also requires all riders become members of the park. Membership is $10 and is good for 1 calendar year. Both parks charge $5 per passenger. Passengers of driving age are required to become members of Rausch Creek as well. The passenger's entrance fees are waived on the day they purchase their membership. A $25 registration fee to attend is required of all drivers. The registration fee is due in advanced and must be paid no later than 2 weeks prior to the start of ECXC.
There are also several modern campgrounds in the area. We will be setting up base camp at Echo Valley Campground, 1 exit south of Rausch Creek. Reservations are not necessary as we will be taking over a portion of the campground. Bishops Inn is located in the town of Tremont and there is an Econo Lodge and Comfort Inn located in the town of Pine Grove, just a few miles away. See below for more details.
