rocking back and forth

my 2001 4x4 has 62,000 miles on it. I have noticed that when it goes over speed bumps and other potholes at low speeds, it rocks back and forth pretty badly. I also have tried putting my weight on one side of the vehicle and then letting it back up, I notice that the body rocks back and forth a few times before it settles. Is there a way to quell this rocking motion and provide a better ride?
