Lack of power on an 88 V6.
      #607756 - 07/08/10 02:33 PM

I know these things are weak, but this is crazy. The computer shows no problems. This thing won't even redline the tach in any gear. Is this normal? How do you know if the fuel inj. are working properly. Engine sounds fine and doesn't use a drop of oil.

How is fuel pressure. Have you checked timing belt. Maybe possibly slipped a tooth

Timing belt is new. Haven't checked fuel pressure. Will do that next. Still want to know if you guys can redline the tach in the first three or four gears?

I can't redline it in 4th...but 1 2 and 3 I can redline. 1 and 2 I redline in about 5-6 seconds...third takes awhile cuz it's a much longer gear than 1 and 2. 4th I can't come close to redlining.

Pull the top timing belt cover and recheck the cam timing. It sounds like one cam is off 1 or 2 teeth. My Pathy did the same thing when I replaced a siezed W/P inb a parking lot years ago. Pulled the covers and found the right cam was off 2 teeth. It started and idled fine, but had no power. Pay extra attention to the right cam, it is usually the one that jumps out of time.
